The function of the scraper
The primary function of the milling machine’s scraper is to level the road surface and seal the pavement.
The rear scraper of a milling machine is the primary component responsible for leveling the milled pavement and collecting the milled material; it typically consists of an upper scraper and a lower scraper. During operation, the lower scraper is pushed into its working position by a hydraulic cylinder, ensuring that the cutting blade smooths the milled surface and prevents sharp protrusions. At the same time, the lower scraper presses firmly against the pavement, keeping the milled debris within the rotor housing, from where it is conveyed via a belt conveyor to a truck or other receiving equipment. During maintenance, the lower scraper must be raised to open the rotor housing, allowing inspection of the rotor assembly and enabling cleaning or replacement of the rotor cutter heads.
